There are many historical sites in Richmond. The Executive Mansion a governor’s residence which has been occupied for the longest time continually. The mansion has been in use since the year 1813. You can take a tour of the Executive Mansion free of cost. Also visit the hundred acres Maymont House & Park. This Victorian estate has a children’s farm, nature centre, gardens, and a restored mansion. You can also enjoy tram and carriage rides.
History lovers should also visit the Richmond National Battlefield Park. You can take a tour of the sites related to the civil war battle years. Take a cruise down the James River on The Annabel Lee Riverboat. The boat has a capacity of 350-passengers and offers casual dining, entertainment, and plantation cruises.
Another interesting place in Richmond is the Three Lakes Nature Center and Aquarium. You can see a 50,000-gallon freshwater aquarium. Many interactive exhibits are located in the centre depicting flora and fauna that are unique to Richmond.
