Minnesota is a place which can be ranked amongst the best places in the world for bird watching, and has become a known and admired destination for this purpose. This place has been properly preserved and developed by the State Government in association with and with the help of a few voluntary organisations. About 200 species of the birds live permanently in the area and about an equal number of species migrate from far off and nearby places during the spring and autumn seasons.
For enjoying the view of the birds there are two options, one is to go in a guided tour in a group. Alternatively you can go on your own in a small group of your family or the loved ones. If possible try to time your trip with the festival season. During the festival season in the month of March, you will be able to watch a number of cultural events related to and depicting birds and place you are in.

Before venturing in the area you must buy a tourist guide and a site plan giving details of certain landmarks and birds that can be sighted at these places.
In case you are interested to move in a group which has its own charm, you can go in for a field trip organised by the State Ornithologists’ Union. This trip continues throughout the year. The only requirement will be that you should be social and mix up with the other people in the group.
